Pennhurst Paracon 2024
Pennhurst Paracon 2024: Spirits, Storms, and Unforgettable Encounters
This year's Pennhurst Paracon was an experience we'll never forget! Nestled among the eerie remnants of the historic Pennhurst Asylum, the event brought together paranormal enthusiasts, investigators, and vendors for a weekend packed with spine-tingling encounters, cherished friendships, and a healthy dose of ghostly mystery.
The weather? Oh, it was brutal. Hot, muggy, and periodically drenched in rain, but that didn’t dampen the electric energy of the weekend. The air was thick—both with humidity and the palpable presence of something... otherworldly.
One of the biggest highlights was meeting Ron and Lourdes from The Staticom Project. Their passion for paranormal research is absolutely contagious, and it was a privilege to chat with them about their methods and some of their most chilling discoveries. We also had the chance to hang out with the Interstate Paranormal team, sharing stories and theories about some of the most haunted corners of Pennhurst.
And then, of course, there was Kindred Spirits' own Adam Berry and Amy Bruni. Meeting these two was like reconnecting with old friends. They are as warm and engaging in person as they are on screen. Of course I got a signed ghosty pouch signed by them (which I love).
The spooky cherry on top? A chilling encounter of my own. While in the courtyard, I looked up to one of the upper floors of a building, I spotted a woman in a hospital gown staring out of a window. Her presence felt heavy, and the air around her seemed... still. Later, I learned that the building was condemned, and no one was supposed to be up there. Who—or what—did I see?
The Ghost Brothers Q&A session was another standout moment. These guys know how to mix humor and heart into their paranormal storytelling, and their energy had the entire room hanging on every word. We even got to spend time with the ever-charming Jess Knapik and the legendary John E.L. Tenney from the fabulous WUW Podcast—and yes, Jess's adorable dog Toad stole everyone’s heart.
Between browsing the unique spooky vendors, swapping stories with new and old paranormal friends, and exploring the haunted grounds of Pennhurst, this Paracon was nothing short of magical. The spirits of Pennhurst still linger, their stories etched into every decaying wall and shadowed hallway.
Until next time, Pennhurst—stay spooky!
